John Eagle European Teams With “Your Ride Is Here” to Transport Austin Area Cancer Patients to Treatment

John Eagle European has teamed up with the charity Your Ride is Here, Inc. to help transport Austin area cancer patients to their treatments in an Aston Martin, Bentley, Lotus or Rolls Royce car. John Eagle European supplies a vehicle and driver from one of their four premium car franchises to provide free ground transportation to those who need it the most.

Your Ride Is Here was established in Austin to provide transportation to and from treatment for those fighting cancer, at no charge to the patient or healthcare provider. The community-based program relies completely on volunteer drivers and donations from individuals, foundations, clubs and corporations.

“Everyone has been touched by cancer, either personally or through someone they care about,” said Sonny Morgan, dealer principal of John Eagle European. “Because my family has suffered from cancer, I was immediately drawn to this organization. My first experience helping a patient hooked me forever. It’s rewarding to see the relief and delight on the face of someone battling cancer when you pull up in a dream car, just for them.”

Ken Adams established the organization in 2009 to serve the Austin community by organizing and funding rides for individuals undergoing cancer treatments. The organization provided 400 trips for treatment in Austin over the past two years and Adams hopes to expand across Texas, possibly even nationwide.

“Having cancer is difficult enough, so getting to treatment shouldn’t be,” said Adams. “Our team works directly with social workers and staff from treatment centers to remove the frustration, time and worry associated with finding a ride. We’re helping patients focus on recovery instead of dealing with the anxiety and stress of getting to their appointments.”

The community-based service offers both a “Basic Transportation” and “Car Enthusiast” program. The Basic Transportation Program covers costs associated with a patient’s travel to and from treatment. The Car Enthusiast Program coordinates rides in antique, exotic, muscle or luxury vehicles to uplift spirits and encourage patients to stay strong or fulfill “Bucket List” dreams.

“As a former patient and car fanatic, I understand how a positive experience can impact your attitude and ultimately your recovery,” added Adams. “With John Eagle European’s fleet and drivers available to us here in Austin, cancer patients can enjoy riding in one of the most exotic cars in the world rather than thinking about their illness.”
