JOHN EAGLE EUROPEAN TO SPONSOR NEW HILL COUNTRY CARS & COFFEE EVENT IN LEANDER, TEXAS
John Eagle European will sponsor the new Cars and Coffee™ event in the “Old Town” area of Leander, Texas, on Jan. 31, 2010, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The Sunday event is part of the national series that began in Southern California as a causal gathering where enthusiasts bring everything from Astons to Mustangs, ‘32 Deuce Coupes and Nissan GTRs. The inaugural event will be in downtown Leander on Willis Street near City Hall with participation free to all.
“Leander has a long history of hosting automotive enthusiasts,” stated Kirk D. Clennan for the City of Leander’s Economic Development Department. “Cars and Coffee is a perfect match for our laid-back town as it is an informal, come-and-go, free cruise-in for classic, vintage, antique and exotic automobiles. While it may have begun in California, we’ll give this monthly event a unique Texas twist that can only be found in here in the Hill Country.”
Leander lies within the heart of Central Texas at the edge of the Texas Hill Country. Just five miles north of Austin on U.S. 183, Leander is home to approximately 30,000 people living amid beautiful lakes, rolling hills and a historic downtown area. Area auto enthusiasts are about to give up lazy Sunday afternoons to fill the air in Leander with the sounds of revving engines.
“The goal is to unite everyone who has a passion for cars in Leander on the last Sunday of every month,” said Sonny Morgan, dealer principal at John Eagle European. “Classics, muscle, street, or whatever you enjoy driving will be welcome. What could be more fun than spending a couple of daylight hours with like‐minded people and their cars in a non‐judgmental environment? We’re proud to sponsor this wonderful event in Texas, as part of this national phenomenon.”
The impetus for the Leander event occurred when Morgan, who had been to another Cars and Coffee event, approached the City of Leander to host one in the Austin area. The City’s economic development department agreed that their town would benefit from this kind of event.
The results of the private/public collaboration will be unveiled January 31. Participants and spectators are more than welcome to bring their own cup of joe however with the O'Leander Cafe on site, one can avoid accidentally spilling in the car along the way. The launch will give locals and visitors the sights, sounds and smells of life in the fast lane without getting a ticket.
Having originated in Southern California in 2005, Cars and Coffee began as a group of auto enthusiasts who simply wanted to share their cars with each other in an environment where they could be comfortable enough to ask questions, learn and experience the joys of the diverse offering of cars. As the meetings faced growing pains a new location was afforded in Irvine, Calif.
Attracting upwards of a combined 1,000 participants and spectators on any given weekend, the events have spread across the globe. The original handful of members has grown exponentially into a kinship of loyal auto enthusiasts from as far away as Germany, France, Australia and Japan.
John Eagle European was the 36th Aston Martin dealership and the 47th Bentley location in North America. Opened in April 2009, it services and sells a full range of handcrafted, high performance vehicles from the flagship Aston Martin DBS, to the Bentley Continental GTC and Lotus Evora.
